Fall Into Metallics

When in doubt - go metallic. Metals, especially gold and silver, have always been a prominent textile in fashion (think Egyptians) but lately have made a prominent comeback in accessories. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of copper and bronze tones at the moment. After a huge black leather wave, I'm really feeling gold and silver accessories lately. Whether it's a purse, nail color, or even your phone case it never hurts to add some metallic tones into your life. I personally love how metallics add excitement and shine to an outfit. My favorite metallic accessory for a while has been a silver and gold purses, especially two-tone. They match everything and add spunk to any outfit where black would not. Treat metallic as a substitute for black. Something nice about expensive metallic pieces is that they will almost always be in style. Here are a few great metallic pieces to inspire you to add gold and silver shades to your wardrobe and lifestyle. (Click for links)

2. Two-tone YSL Clutch - I purchased this Yves Saint Laurent metallic bag this past spring to go with more dressy outfits. There are a few different sizes and textiles that this bag comes in. This style is an evening clutch with a chain. I wouldn't wear this to a lunch date. Thankfully though the chain makes this clutch versatile for a night out or to pair with an evening gown and matches almost any outfit.

3. Metallic Valentino Rockstud - My friends make fun of me but I've always had a thing for the Valentino Rockstud. I purchased the classic black and nude pair a few years ago and it's the best quality and most comfortable designer shoe I have owned. The leather is very soft and the closed toe makes it a comfortable pump. This particular metallic Valentino Rockstud is a great color for all year round. This would highly compliment any neutral outfit for the summer as well as darker tones for fall. It's great for special occasion too, it would spice up any dress. Yes, Tom Ford and Christian Louboutin make great metallic pumps as well but the spunkiness of the studs and comfort of the leather make this shoe a winner in my book.

4. Gold/Silver "Runwell" Shinola Watch - Like I said, I'm a lover of two-tone so I was very excited to see that Shinola created this watch. This watch is a great classic and can also be worn casual or dressy. The Shinola 'Runwell" reminds me of a two-tone Rolex or the Cartier Ballon Bleu so this is a perfect look-for-less.

5. Dior Reflective Sunglasses. I haven't seen a good pair of metallic sunglasses in a while. I love the unique aviator look of these gold Dior sunglasses. Also, sunglasses look great in the fall with a leather jacket.

4. Gold Chain Zara Heel - This heel from Zara features multiple chains that remind me of Balmain. Strappy heels have been huge these past few years. The bright gold could jazz up any outfit and it complements several color tones.

5. Gold ASOS Lux Lane Bandage Swimsuit - This gold foil bandage swimsuit would definitely be a showstopper at any pool party. Or any gold bathing suit for that matter. The hue just gives a brightness that non-metallics can't achieve. Okay, I know this post is titled "Fall Into Metallics" but what's wrong with wishful thinking? Plus don't a lot of people vacation in these upcoming months. As a former swimwear designer, I had to.

6. Platinum Freshly Picked Moccasins - Okay this one's really exciting because - baby fashion. Eek. I have been a huge fan of the Freshly Picked Moccasins for quite some time now and have watched the company grow tremendously. I'm so excited that they offer this cute, high quality, easy to put on moc in metallic hues including gold, platinum, and rose gold. These are one of my favorite baby gifts to give. Featured below is the platinum, which I love because it's pretty neutral.

7. Kyoto Pearl Nail Polish by OPI - Last but not least over the summer I dabbled into metallic nail polish because my usual whites and creams were falling flat. I'm so excited I tried this Kyoto Pearl by OPI because it has such a nice metallic hue and your nails look great way longer than regular polish. It's actually pretty subtle and neutral for a silver tone. I'll be trying more risky metallic colors such as light gold and pewters for this fall. You might as well have fun with nail polish and change it up once in a while. Tastefully though. ;)

Thank you for reading! Hopefully you gravitate more towards metallics after reading this :)

Health & Happiness,

-E.A.
